Yuri Nava is a passionate School Counselor Leader with distinguished experience providing students with comprehensive school counseling services and multi-tiered systems of support. Once an undocumented student in the state of California, she is passionate about enhancing learning environments for diverse student populations through comprehensive counseling strategies that address equity and access barriers using data. She has been successful in leading post-secondary courses at the university level. She is always willing and loves to provide mentoring, professional development, and coaching to educators on counseling best practices. She was the 2016 California School Counselor of the Year for the California Association of School Counselors and was named one of the top five counselors of the year in the nation by the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) in 2017. She was named the Top Student Advisor by the mayor's office for the city of Riverside in 2018 and awarded the Champion for Justice Award in 2017 by the fair housing council for her support of at-risk youth. She serves as a lead reviewer of comprehensive counseling programs for the American School Counselors Association and currently serves on the College Board's Counselor Advisory Group.
